I've read a bunch of annotations to all his books, and I must admit that King has a small variety of plots. Mostly, body snatching (aliens, spirits, demons), parallel universes where a bunch of people accidentally travels and fights monsters (or that releases some monsters that haunt a bunch of people in our universe), and poor children with powers. And, yes, small towns.
Pretty much... it?
I also don't really like his style. Too 'redneck' for my taste.
As for the new Carrie, I don't really know if I'd watch... people tend to spoil films these days, using the very same silhouettes and tracing one another. Films since about 2009 disappoint me more and more... so I rewatch them films from the last century. The 80's have made some fine horror films, btw.
